Bushwick Inlet Park Gardens

CLIENT North Brooklyn Parks Alliance

Bushwick Inlet Park is a 3.5 acre public park on the Williamsburg waterfront that was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. Bau Land worked with the Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park to realize the largest park infrastructure improvement project that time. Through an entirely community-led process, new gardens were designed and installed in the Spring of 2019. Through a series of interactive workshops and stakeholder meetings, the goals and design for the park gardens was created. Bau Land then sourced the materials and organized a community planting day, where approximately 60 volunteers installed over 500 plants. Community volunteers of all ages continue to be active stewards for the gardens they designed, and native birds and pollinators are now living in the park.
